THE WORLD OF SPORT: REPRESENTING MARGINALIZED GROUPS
Understanding Discrimination and Representation in the Sports World, and Learning How to Bridge the Gap of Inequality

How Has Sport Impacted Us?
When we think to ourselves about the many ways in which sport has influenced, impacted, and changed our lives, the answers vary significantly for everyone.
Many are vibrant fans who thrive off of competition and the community of sports, others are athletes who live and breathe their craft, and others remain casual or indifferent to sport. But for those who bear no connection or passion for sport have still been influenced by it, and often in ways we may not expect.

What is Pluralism, and How is it Relevant to This?
While the goal of this site is to help viewers gain insights and perspectives on marginalization in sport, I also want to emphasize the importance of integrating a pluralist ideology into the world of sport.
Pluralist rhetoric is a way of communication that enables and celebrates all cultures and backgrounds without conforming to one, normalized form of communication; that being white, American English.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we strive to embrace a world immersed in pluralism and pluralist rhetoric. Implementing this practice highlights and celebrates all cultures and backgrounds. There should be no social norm or culturally expected way of learning, communicating, and understanding one another. This is imperative to all contexts, not just sport. Sport however, is a great place to start.

Going Forward...
Each section of this site is comprised of original work, by both myself and by many others who are passionate about these issues. Some sections also contain research and data that I have collected from varying sources in order to most effectively express the reality of groups who are marginalized in the world of sport. On the final section of this website, you will be able to look at a collective works of film/TV, music, literature, speeches, and artwork that I have found beneficial in representing inequality and discrimination in sports. This is a project fueled by passion and drive to decrease division and increase unity through something I feel has the ability to do so. I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to leave comments and questions below in the contact box provided.
